Please pass this on. #Haiti, possible survivor.
Sunday, January 17, 2010

Survivor needs help. Letter from a friend:

Duncan,

Below is a copy of an email I just received from someone who once worked for the Institute for Public Strategies (my employer) and is now doing relief work in Haiti. I thought of you, tragically reminded of Katrina as the current crisis continues to shock us all.

If you can think of anyone to pass this along to trust it comes from a good source. Hope you're doing well. BTW, did you hear [Local Boy Made Good, Enjoys Ravaging and Burning] on "This American Life" recently? I've only spoken to [Local Boy] once, but I went to high school with his brother Dan. We worked on the student newspaper together. [Dude] is a force.

All the best,
D

(An email originally addressed to James Baker, founder and exe. dir. of IPS)

I have an important and URGENT job for you James!(and everyone else- PLEASE HELP!)

Adolfo Prato is inside- trapped in the meat area- of Caribbean Market at Belmas 95.  He has sent a text message to his family this morning notifying he is still alive!  The search and rescue team here in the DR has tried to reach Haiti- but they have been notified that the authorities over in the area have declared that it's too late and there are no survivors so they are not allowing the rescue to occur.  PLEASE help me send this to the media- or to whomever you can think of in order to get Adolfo out of there. If we can get international authorities involved- we can save his life together.
Please help us help Dominique!
Forward to whomever you think can help Dominique and her family get her brother home safe! Any ideas- time is of the essence!

My number is 829-380-7668

Thank you!
S. Atilano

Richard Price: Lament
Wednesday, January 6, 2010

"I ask myself, What kind of writer am I that I write something and then I don't want to take ownership of the final product? It's nauseating. I don't mean nauseating in a condemnatory way, I mean that you actually get a feeling of vertigo and nausea about who you are." -- Richard Price, 1996
